Books wanted!

As part of our reading for enjoyment in EYFS we are inviting children to bring a book from home to share with the class at story time. This can be a bedtime story, fiction or non-fiction to spark their love of reading. Thank you to those who have been eager and shared theirs this week, we particularly loved there’s a monster in my book by Tom Fletcher!

The children have impressed us with their fantastic start to Phonics and learning all our new sounds through the programme Essential Letters and Sounds.  Children have been reading sounds in the environment, writing simple words and captions and have been incredibly excited for their home reading books which were handed out today.  Reminder, these must be brought every day to support individual reading at school. Books will be collected in on a Thursday and returned with a new book each Friday.  Our book next week is Owl Babies.  Happy Reading!

Our first week in Reception!

Image
The children have had a fantastic full week in Reception and have settled brilliantly into the routines of school life at Iveson. They have enjoyed becoming more familiar with our areas of provision from our water area to our outdoors. Children are developing new friendships and bonding with their peers.  Until photo permissions are given, we will be unable to share photographs of your children.  Each week we will have a book of the week and rhyme of the week. Next week, our book of the week is Colour Monster and our rhyme of the week is head, shoulders, knees and toes.

Welcome to Reception!

Welcome to Reception All the children have settled extremely well into Reception these past 3 days. The children are beginning to make new friends and explore all the areas inside and outside.  Please can we remind all parents to complete your child's photo permission.  This will allow us to upload pictures of all the wonderful things the children have been doing in Reception, next week.
