In Reception children have daily opportunities to explore and build on their design and technology skills. Within Reception children should: Know how to use scissors to cut curved lines and simple shapes with increased independence. E.g. a square/circle. Know how to build structures, joining components together with increased independence. Know how to make simple models from materials and draw of ideas and intentions. Know how to express what they like and do not like about items they have made and attempt to say why. Know what they are making and which materials they are using. Know the names of the tools needed to work the materials E.g., scissors to cut, glue to stick.
