The children in school are learning the 'Sing A Rainbow' song. We are recording the children singing this song to send to our parents.  Click here for the Rainbow Song. Worm Dance  Worms come to the surface when they hear the rain on the ground.  Sometimes noises convince them it is raining and to come up.  Can you make up your own rain dance to make the worms appear? Some cultures do dances to make it rain as well!  You can look these up on the internet to get some ideas.  Could you put your dance to music? Let's make a wormery! You will need: Earthworms Large, clean jar or clear containter (with a few holes made in the top) Soil Sand Gravel or small stones Water Compostable materials (old leaves/plants/flowers/f ruit and vegetable peelings) Somewhere cool and dark (like a cupboard) Pour a small layer of gravel into the bottom of your container. Add alternate layers (about 2cms) of soil and sand until you have about 4cm space at the top. Add a little water with each layer to keep it moist and make sure you have soil as the top layer. Now add your worms! Gently place your compostable materials on top and put the lid on your container (make sure it has holes).  Put your worm farm in a dark cupboard (worms love the dark!) and leave them for a few days. Check on your worms and see what they've been up to! What do you see ? What has happened to your layers? Have your worms made any patterns? What have y

Wiggly work

Try these wiggly worm activities! Painting with Spaghetti Cook some spaghetti until it is soft.  Coat the spaghetti with paint and have fun making patterns that look like worms! Make some squirmy jelly worms Pack straws into a cup and secure them with a rubber band. Pour jelly carefully into the straws. Once the jelly has set, rinse with some warm water to release the worms from their straws. Can you make them wiggle and jiggle?
