I'm a Little Hedgehog Song

Today Robin class learnt a new song about hedgehogs, we used actions to help us remember the words and then we performed it in groups.

We have had another busy week in Robin Class

The children have been applying their skills this week whilst leading their own learning. They have been making models in the construction area,  writing labels and have put them on display. We have been using mathematical language whilst comparing the weight of objects. The children ordered objects by length and height and then decided to organise themselves in height order. Some children decided to create pictures using 2D shapes and others used their imagination to create pictures and models.

Robins have been learning rhymes about bears

We learnt 'The bear went over the mountain'. Here are some of Robin class singing the rhyme.

Nursery Roleplay!

Nursery have been playing together in our new roleplay area. We have really enjoyed using the play do to create food for the cafe area.  We've taken orders on the phone...  Taken orders in the cafe...  Brought the food out to hungry diners...  Chosen from an extensive menu... What a fantastic time we've all had. The children are extremely engaged with the activities and we're so happy to see them enjoy it so much. Until next time, Mr Cockburn and Miss Midgley

Outdoors

We are loving our new outdoor space created by Outdoor Classrooms at Calverly, Leeds. We are exploring, using our senses and taking risks. This is helping to develop our gross motor skills which in turn will help us with our pencil control and writing.

Amazing Writing

Here is some fantastic writing from some of our Reception Children. They looked at a picture and had to write a caption to go with it. They thought of a caption, counted the words and then segmented each word in order write it.

Learning how to find 1 more and 1 less

Image
Yesterday we were finding one more than a given number. We were so clever that today, the teachers challenged us to find one less. Some children used a number line. Darween used a number line to jump back one space  Dexter found his own way to record his findings, we were very impressed!   Violet, Aoife and Aadi used number sentences and could read them to the class!         Fern used lots of different methods including; number line, fingers, drawings and number sentences to find one less.
