  This week in Reception we are reading  Giraffes Can't Dance  by Giles Andreae. We have been learning our new words of the week from the book which are: useless, elegant, swishing, clumsy Within provision we have been exploring painting giraffes, developing our scissor skills to make animal masks and we've even been exploring a world map! We discussed what the words land and ocean mean and where giraffes might live in the world. 🦒🦒🦒 

  We have been learning about animals that live in Antarctica and other cold climates.  Our story of the week has been ‘Penguin Huddle’.  We have had lots of fun creating our own animal role plays, creating penguin pictures and clay models! Look an our amazing scissor skills! 

 This week in Reception we are reading Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andreae. We have been learning our new words of the week from the book which are: prowling, galloping, quivers, lair This morning the children have drawn their favourite animals.

 We have had a wonderful first week back and enjoyed the seasonal changes. There has been lots of discussions about snow, ice, melting and freezing.  We helped the site manager, Mr Payne, clear some of the paths by throwing the ice over the wall and we got to go sledging on the hill!
