Our learning next week...
We have a very exciting week of learning ahead....
The police are coming to visit on Tuesday in their Police Car as part of our learning in literacy ‘people who help us’.
In phonics, we will be moving onto reading and spelling the digraphs “ow” e.g. cow and “oi” e.g. coin. A digraph is two letters that make one sound and the children are becoming aware of this. Ask them if they can tell you what a digraph is. To recap, segmenting is the way you “chop” up the sounds in words for spelling e.g. ch - i - p. Blending is when you put these sounds back together again for reading e.g. ch - i - p will become chip when the sounds are blended together.
In maths, we will be exploring our number of the week ‘11’. Investigate with your child different ways to make or represent 11 e.g. writing a mathematical statement, finding 11 objects, odd or even number? The possibilities are endless.
Busy Week!
