The story of Little Red Ri ding Hood is set in the woods.  Can you m ake a list of any other stories that are set in the woods? What is your favourite story set in the woods? Can you tell your grown up how these stories are similar? Can you tell your grown up how these stories are different?   Little Red Riding Hood stopped to talk to the Big Bad Wolf.  Do you think this was a good idea?  Talk to a grown-up at home about what she should have done.   Challenge: Could you retell the story  on your own?     Remember to use full sentences when you are speaking to your grown-up.    What happened at the start of the story?  At the start of the story…   What happened in the middle of the story?  In the middle of the story…   What happened at the end of the story?  At the end of the story…

Today for your reading task, could you listen to this version of Little Red Riding Hood?   Which character was growling?   Who brought a basket of food to Grandma’s house?   Writing challenge today:   Can you draw a picture of Grandma?   Can you write a caption for your picture?   Remember in Reception we encourage  the children to sound (segment) out each  w ord  phonetically. So it is perfectly acceptable for your child to write something like this:   Granmar is siting in bed πŸ–‰ Gran has got her prity hat on  πŸ–‰ Miss Wilde and Miss McGill  haven’t yet taught all the Phonics sounds, which means captions like the above  are  all perfectly age appropriate.

Granny loves to make Little Red delicious treats. You could d ecorate  or bake  some biscuits or ca kes.  Or how about cooking a meal with your grown-ups? Helping to stir and measure ingredients are super skills! You could take a photograph or draw pictures to show  Miss McGill and Wilde .   Challenge: Could you  write or draw  a list of ingredients you used?
Watch the video from your teacher and pause as you go to join in! Can you go on a hunt? A hunt for 'v'! How many things can you find around the house and how many words can you think of that start with a v ?

Did you know that a wolf can run for eight hours a day... That's longer than a normal school day! Wolves can run for miles and miles without stopping.  Can you see how long you can run for? Who can run for the longest in your family? πŸƒ‍♀️ πŸƒ‍♀️ Is it easier to run quickly ⚡ or slowly 🐌 for a long time? How does running make you feel? Can you make a story box for Little Red Riding Hood? This is like a mini stage that shows where the story takes place Use a shoebox/cardboard and different materials to create the places from the story. You will need to add trees for the forest and a little house for Granny to live in. Tomorrow we will make some characters to act out the story with! Try to use your best describing words to talk about your story box. πŸ—£ There are tall trees that wave in the wind. πŸ—£ The dry leaves are crispy and crunchy. πŸ—£ The sun shines in the bright blue sky.
