Pumpkin Investigators

Reception loved discovering what the inside of a pumpkin was like this week.  The children used all of their senses to explore the pumpkin, and they all had  the opportunity to look inside the pumpkin and describe what they could see, feel and smell to Miss Gray.  👀👂👃✋ The pumpkin was then left inside the classroom where the children were able to experiment with different tools to try and open the pumpkin as a group.

You can help your child at home by finding 2 in your environment.  Can you find 2 on a clock? Can you find 2 on a car registration plate? Can you find 2 objects? Can you show double 2? Can you help matching pairs of socks with your adult? In Reception this week, we will be continuing our Phase 2 Phonics learning. Minibeast Hunters!

Image
This week the children in Reception have loved exploring the outdoor area and taking part in some gardening. The children worked together to transfer soil from one end of the outdoor area to the Mud Kitchen.  Whilst digging, the children found a range of mini-beasts and this sparked a real interest. The next day, the children chose to go on a mini-beast hunt and found a range of insects around the outdoor area. This encouraged great speaking and listening, and the children used some fantastic language to explain their ideas about where they could find the mini-beasts and why. 🐞🐛🦋
